After all the hiking I have done in the past year, it wasn’t all easy to come back to Germany and look for a new job. I thought I would find out in one year, what my real passion is, but instead I started just looking for the obvious jobs as marketing manager in often again IT related companies. Because that’s what I have learned, that’s my skills I aquired in 9 years. But there’s also my sister Andrea, who was looking for a different kind of job and dreaming about what we can possibly do, we found a little niche for ourselves: mountain and hiking related jewelry. There exists only little jewelry for mountain lovers so far and often it’s quite kitschy. We didn’t know much about jewelry making but we knew a lot about mountains, hiking, business, marketing, buying… so we spent the last months setting up our own little business, learning a lot about jewelry (and even took a course on jewelry making), websites and woocommerce, design, packaging, naming, branding, production, content marketing… We found a wonderful jewelry designer from Norway, Ellen, who loves hiking and the mountains as much as we do. We got support and encouragements from so many people. Until we finally launched our Blog & Shop FJELLA two weeks ago.
Fjella is not just a shop, our aim is to sell happiness for mountain lovers. We want to inspire, telling stories about hikes all around the world. We want people to remember their greatest hiking experiences, the last mountains they have climbed right in the middle of a busy day just by looking at their bracelet or pendant. Stop the daily routine and switch on the mountain happiness.
So far our shop and blog is only in German with selected jewelry, but we have loads of plans for the next year. We sell within the European Union so far (but if you really love on of our pieces message me and we can find a way to ship something to you!).
Have a look at Fjella online, follow us on Instagram, Facebook or Pinterest or subscribe to our Newsletter (in German) – and please let me know what you think, I am happy about any feedback!

A really great idea, Tina. A wonderful idea that should do as well as the amount of effort you both put in. I can see a nice Matterhorn range of jewelry being sold at outlets in Zermatt, or an Everest range sold in Kathmandu. The possibilities are endless. I wish you all the best.
Thank you very much! We actually already do have a Matterhorn pendant design ready as prototype, going into production soon 🙂 Great idea to sell it in Zermatt and not only online, we’ll look into this!
