What I don’t like about living in Berlin, is that it is very far from the mountains. What I love about Berlin, is that it is rather close to the Baltic Sea. A 3 hours drive by car and you can enjoy a weekend breathing fresh, salty air, eating fresh or smoked fish, listening to the waves and sea gulls.
Together with a couple of friends, we recently escaped Berlin for a nice weekend at the Darß, in Ahrenshoop. The Darß is a beautiful natural peninsula at the Baltic sea. On one side the sea, on the other the “Bodden” (kind of a lagoon).
Three years ago I went there for the first time with my friends. At that time I was even participating at the half-marathon that takes place every year in the region. It’s the most beautiful place for running and the people living there couldn’t be better in cheering up the runners. Last year I couldn’t run due to back problems, this year I don’t have any better excuse than to admit that I haven’t been exercising enough. So we had only 3 runners this time, but nevertheless the weekend couldn’t have been better. Sitting in the sun with coffea and cake, eating fresh fish sandwiches, walking at the beach, taking a boat trip, another coffea, another fish sandwich, making a bike tour, sitting in the sun with Aperol Spritz, another walk, having fun at sunset together, cooking dinner together, playing cards, …
I let the pictures speak for themselves!

Boat trip, starting from Zingst
(Ended when the ship propeller caught an anchor by accident and we had to get off the boat earlier than planned. But without any time pressure it was actually real fun for us to monitor the progress and actions.)
